What Is Volumetric Mixing?

A volumetric concrete mixer is a concrete mixer mounted on a truck or trailer that contains separate compartments for sand, stone, cement, and water. On arrival at the job site, the machine mixes the materials to produce the exact amount of concrete needed. The mixer continuously blends these materials to create fresh concrete, adjusting proportions based on volume, not weight.

This versatile mixer can produce varying amounts of concrete, from one to 400+ yards per day, ensuring a constant supply as long as materials are replenished onsite. It adheres to industry standards and regulations, consistently meeting or surpassing ASTM C685, AASHTO M-241, and DOT requirements. Operators can pause and resume mixing as needed, allowing flexibility in production schedules and job demands.

Additionally, the operator can modify mix designs without relocating the machine, offering adaptability on-site. Cleanup is hassle-free, requiring only a washout of the mixer area after the job is completed.
